Create a transportation planning point

The objective is to create a transportation planning point that represents an organisational unit that is responsible for transportation. You need to create this when you want to combine multiple deliveries in one single shipment, organise complex routing via multiple forwarding agents linking various transport methods or want to calculate shipment costs. In most multinational companies there will be a one-to-one relationship between plants and transportation planning points or shipping points and transportation planning points.

Use the following path in the implementation guide: IMG >> Enterprise Structure >> Definition >> Logistics Execution >> Maintain Transportation Planning Point

When accessing the configuration transaction, the screen shows a list of existing transportation planning points.

Select the menu path Edit >> New Entries to create a new transportation planning point.
Define your transportation planning code and assign it to a specific company code.
Press the ENTER key to allow the system to validate your data.

Select the menu path Goto >> Address to maintain the address details for the transportation planning point.
A pop-up screen appears that allows you to maintain the address details for the transportation planning point. The minimum address requirements are the country and communication language, but it is advised to enter as much address details as possible. For example when expanding the fields in the Street Address box, the time zone and transportation zone can be defined.
Press the ENTER key to allow the system to validate your data. The pop-up screen disappears when no errors are found in the address.

Press the SAVE button to save the data in a transport request.

You can now exit the configuration transaction.
